Teddy was popular because he felt the same as the people. He did what ever he could to help people. If he felt it was messed up, he would do whatever was in his power to fix it. He tried to fix everything, and was the first president to travel and do more things than any other president ever did. He tried to push our country forward and make it a better place to live.

I agree with Dillion in that he was popular because of his dedication to the people. He tried hard while in power to help the lower class immigrants who didn't have much. He didn't abuse his power and tried to better the lives of the people. This was followed by actions and not just words of false intentions. I think that by all the things hesaid that he wanted to do while president like trying to better the lives of the immagrants and making restrictions on the company working class made him a more ardent reformer than he really was.

Roosevelt is ranked as one of the best U.S. presidents because he was such a great progressive leader. Roosevelt is known for his leadership of the Progressive movement which advocated a change in economic, political, social, and moral reform. Progressivists belived in literacy tests to cut out the illeterate in order to purify the vote. They also believed in promoting Women's suffurage. This group also meant to regulate businesses and undercut big bosses. Roosevelt was also a supporter of prohibition to purify our nation more. Roosevelt was also founder of the Progressive Party of 1912. Roosevelt was a big image among the people of the time because he promoted things like the 'Square Deal' to make himself look good and to satisfy people. Roosevelt sounded like a more ardent reformer because he got his image out among the public better he was the first president to travel. He say to it that the Panama Canal was built. Teddy Roosevelt was everywhere in homes as the teddy bear, as promoter of conservation movements, as the American 'cowboy', he was an adeventurer and hunter. Roosevelt became famous as an ardent reformer because of his saying "Speak softly and carry a big stick." His image was larger than his actions.

Roosevelt was such a popular progressive leader because he was a great speaker, and was a common man who was very dedicated to what the people wanted. The Americans had many progressive ideas and felt that the US could be shaped into anything, and with Roosevelt's many talents, he helped our nation feel we could be anything we imagined as a country too. At times his image of "being able to do it all" would not match up with his actions though.

Theodore Roosevelt was such a popular progressive leader because he did the things that the loudest members of the community wanted. With people clamoring for more "Manifest Destiny" land takeovers, he went around "helping" smaller countries and freeing them from their oppressive overlords. He also started plan to conserve the natural resources of the land, another popular issue of the time. He busted a few big trusts, because they were being so unfair to their workers and breaking the law, further appeasing the progressives.
He was perceived to be an ardent reformer because his true feelings were not expressed. He "trust busted", but he didn't really want to bust all the big trusts, he just wanted to regulate them.

Roosevelt was able to win the votes of the people because he helped the "little people." He did this my ridding the economy of the large monopolies that were controlling the market. He got his face into the news by appearing large. He was the first president to travel and talked big about improving American life. On a deeper level though he was a lot of talk. Through his 'big stick' policy he really just sounded like a reformer while others did the work.

My first point to make is that in order to become popular you have to do something that many will love/hate or be different than other people with opinions, actions, etc. Roosevelt was all of these things. He was popular because he eliminated some of the big trusts that made things harder for the little guy who was mistreated and at times overworked. This was something different that no other president had done. However, the "trust buster" didn't want to eliminate all of the big trust, like Levi said, but to regulate them instead. Anyways by busting up some of those trust helped the workers which also helped to make him more popular as a progressive leader. He wanted to make changes and to keep moving forward.

I believe Roosevelt was a popular progressive leader because of his dedication to the people and his uniqueness as a person. He was the first president to travel and really cared about average americans and not just the upper class. Roosevelt actually helped the people he put his words into action. He pushed our country onward and helped the little people of america make a living. He was a ardent leader because he was a trust buster. and like levi said he just wanted to regulate big trusts not bust.

Roosevelt was an eloquent speaker and advocated many causes for the common man. he was the original politcal enviornmentalist and had a serious dedication to his people. Roosevelt was also founder of the Progressive Party of 1912. He worked hard and did alot of things that made him look better to the people than he really was. In reality he was just another president.

Teddy Roosevelt was such a popular progressive leader, because he attacked the courts about being biased against labor unions, and tried to place restrictive laws against big business leaders of American working companies. He believed the presidents postion was as "steward of the people." He was known to be a Trust Buster even though Taft busted more trust than he did. He was one of the first presidents to stir toward more world politcs, and travel outside of the United States. He created a good public opinion of himself so that he sounded like a more ardent reformer than he truly was. By attatching his image to helping the lower working class, and placing a few number of restrictive laws on big working cooperations, he bettered his public opinion. He believed that as long as you "spoke softly and carried a big stick", the nation would be better off. Like Katlin said his public image was larger than his actual efforts to improve the country.

teddy roosevelt was a popular progressive activist because of his influence and power to change. he was popular because he stood behind and advocated the imoprtant and major issues of the time. land preservations, weomons sufferage ect. and i agree with maynard. teddy cared alittle more for his image than he did his the issues in themselfs. he used his image to sell the diffrent movements and make them something other people would spend more time on thinking out and trying to change.

Roosevelt was such a poplular progressive leader for many reasons. For one, he had a reputation for helping the people. He broke up the big trusts earning himself the nickname "trust buster." He also gained the respect of the progressives by encouraging women's sufferage movements and setting aside land for national parks. He was very insightful in that he realized our country's resources were limited, and something needed to be done to preserve them. He was a very clever man, and a great public speaker. However, he may have seemed more passionate about his reforms than he actually was. He broke up those busts, but that wasn't necessarily what he believed should happen. He did what he knew would earn him public support, and even came to be known as the teddy bear. All in all, he is one of the most respected presidents in our country's history.

I believe roosevelt was such a popular leder because he did things that would make you either love him or hate him. He did what he thought was best for the people, and he wanted to the help the people that were common not the ones that had everything already. But he also just had a great speaking voice and skills because he could convince people things were right. This made him seemlike a more ardent reformer just by the way he spoke.
